Siri Voice Commands
On iPhone, you can ask Siri to do things in Soundscape without touching your phone. For example, hear a callout, start a route, or set a beacon on a marker.
Soundscape answers in its own voice, with its usual callouts and beacon sounds. So you still hear each sound from the direction of the place.
Use voice commands when your phone is in your pocket or your hands are full. They work while Soundscape is in the background and while your phone is locked. Asking for a callout does not open the app.
Siri does the listening, not Soundscape. So Soundscape never uses your microphone, and your Bluetooth headphones keep their high quality sound.
How to Ask
Every command has the same shape: “Soundscape”, then a group, then your choice. For example, “Soundscape surroundings around me”.
You can also stop after the group, and Siri asks which choice you want. So each group works like a spoken menu. There are only seven groups to remember.
What You Can Ask For
“Soundscape surroundings” — then My Location, Around Me, Ahead of Me, Nearby Markers, Call out Beacon or Beacon Info.
“Soundscape route” — then Next Waypoint, Previous Waypoint, Mute Beacon or Stop.
“Soundscape start route” — then the name of one of your routes.
“Soundscape beacon” — then the name of one of your markers.
“Soundscape stop beacon”.
“Soundscape detail” — then Silent, Essential, Simplified or Detailed. Silent turns automatic callouts off.
“Soundscape list” — then Routes, Markers or Commands. Commands reads this list back to you.
Good to Know
The commands also appear in the Shortcuts app, and in the iOS Settings app under Siri. There you can see the whole list and add your own wording for any command.
